Green fluorescent protein (GFP), a 27 kDa protein derived from the jellyfish Aequorea victoria, emits green light (emission peak at a wavelength of 509 nm) when excited byblue light (excitation peak at a wavelength of 395 nm). The CAG promoter is a strong synthetic promoter frequently used to drive high levels of gene expression in mammalian expression vectors. It contains a CMV immediate early enhancer and the chicken beta actin promoter.
This lentivirus expresses GFP under the control of the CAG promoter.
