Fork-head box protein G1 (FOXG1) is an evolutionarily conserved, winged-helix transcriptional repressor that that regulates neurogenesis. The FOXG1 gene has been recently implicated in the congenital form of Rett syndrome (RTT), a severe neurodevelopmental disorder.
